How to Make a Morning Ritual to Improve Your Day

How to Make a Morning Ritual to Improve Your Day
Posted on

Mornings are a great time to set your intentions for the day. You have a chance to reflect on your goals and how you can achieve them. Unfortunately, mornings can also be the most stressful time of the day! Between getting yourself, children, spouse and pets ready, you may leave the house feeling more frazzled than ever. This is where a morning ritual can come into play. A ritual does not have to be long, but it should be calming and productive. Here is how you can make your own morning ritual to improve your day.

  1. Wake Up a Little Earlier

Waking up earlier than you have to can help you focus and get ready for the day. This is especially important if you have kids! Take some time for yourself and enjoy the silence. You can have a cup of coffee or tea. Or you can just lay in bed and luxuriate in not having to get up just yet. Now is also the time when you can do a few of the following things.

  1. Make a Plan

Mornings are the best time to make a to-do list and recheck your calendar. Keep a journal by your bed or use an electronic device to help you plan for the day. Write down when you will go to work, lunch, the gym and any other extra activities you and your family may have. This will give you a clear picture of the day’s schedule and put the focus on the most urgent tasks. By doing this, you will feel more confident in how the day will go and that everything will get done.

  1. Practice Gratitude

Take the time to list everything you are grateful for every day. You can use the journal you keep by your bed or simply list things in your head. Think about what fulfills you. What people make your life better? Are there any spiritual qualities you are thankful for? Thinking of everything that makes your life wonderful will help you face the day. It automatically helps you feel happier and more positive because you know you have a great life, no matter what!

  1. Get Moving

This can be anything from a full workout to simple stretching. You may find that doing a few yoga sun salutations is fun and energizing. You could take your dog for a walk or go for a run. Whatever it is, get your blood flowing. This will help your body wake up and prepare you for the day. It can also still be a time of getting your head in the right space. You can use workout time to set your intentions for the day and create a positive attitude

A morning ritual does not have to be very long or intricate. If you can only get up 5 minutes earlier in the morning, that is okay! Just make sure you are able to take some time for yourself to focus and plan. By starting the day in this positive, calm way, you set the rest of the day up to be positive and calm as well. You will be more successful and productive and feel happier too! Take some time to plan a morning ritual so you can begin this important practice tomorrow morning.
